How can we help you?

Connect with your local public agencies

Last Updated: Mar 20, 2017 02:12PM PDT

Nextdoor has partnered with over 2,000 public agencies across the country—including police, fire, city, and emergency management departments*—who use Nextdoor to share important information and strengthen their relationships with you, their residents.

Here are a few of the benefits to having your local public agencies on Nextdoor:

  1. Get to know local police officers or government representatives
  2. Stay in the loop about Crime & Safety issues
  3. Be invited to upcoming events, like town halls and “Coffee with a Cop”
  4. Organize disaster plans as a community
  5. Voice your concerns to government representatives
  6. Provide feedback on government initiatives

Our public agency partners can post messages, polls, or urgent alerts to the neighborhoods in their service area where the information would be relevant. As a member, you can thank their posts, reply to them, or send a local official a private message.

NOTE: Agencies will never see your profile or content from your neighborhood. They only see their own posts and replies to those posts. Your Nextdoor website is still completely private to you and your neighbors.

If you'd rather not hear from your local public agencies, you can:

Invite your local agencies to Nextdoor

If you are a Nextdoor member and would like to see your local public agencies using Nextdoor for Public Agencies, you can:

Dear [NAME OR NAME OF DEPARTMENT],

As a resident of [CITY], I make it a priority to stay informed about local issues that impact my community. That’s why I’m a member of Nextdoor, the private social network for neighborhoods, and why I’m asking your department to join Nextdoor for Public Agencies.

Over 2,000 public agencies already use Nextdoor to notify their citizens about relevant topics like crime and safety, lost items, and civic engagement. I know my neighborhood would benefit from hearing updates like these from your department and would welcome the opportunity to discuss them further with your team.

To learn more about Nextdoor for Public Agencies and how it can increase overall community engagement between your department and your residents, visit www.nextdoor.com/agency.

Or you can sign up straight away at www.nextdoor.com/city/apply.

Thank you for consideration. I look forward to continuing the conversation on Nextdoor.

Best regards,
[NAME]
Tip! If you don’t have public agency contacts, consider posting on Nextdoor to ask fellow neighbors if they have any personal contacts.

If you are a public agency representative interested in partnering with us, please contact us.

*At the current time, we are focusing on partnerships with police and fire departments, emergency management offices, sheriff's offices, and city or county governments. We are not actively partnering with elected officials, non-profits, schools, or unions.
